I have been having prostate problems for over three years. My VA doctor prescribed Terazosin to relieve the tension in the sphincter muscle. It seemed to help but I continued to have chronic pain of 1 or 2 on a ten scale. I was able to stop that after a treatment of silver water for two weeks. However, the seizures of the sphincter continued randomly over a two or three month period. I wound up wearing a catheter for a week on each occurrence. After a recent occurrence they changed my RX to a double doses of flowMax, which worked for two weeks. I have gotten by on a catheter now for a month, but of course after a bad bladder infection, aided by a sulpher RX. For the past three days I have been taking twenty minutes of heat treatment using a Dewar-Star H.P. thermal heat machine. The heat is applied by inserting a three inch probe into the anus. The heat can be adjusted from 99 to 113 degrees f. The idea is to increase blood flow in the area and also confuse the body into thinking there is a fever in the area, causing white blood cell to attack and clean up any foreign bacteria and congested cells in the area. I could easily reach and massage my prostate with my index finger. After four treatments, I could just touch it with a finger tip. With the inflammation gone the prostate drops back to normal size and hopefully the urethra regains its normal inside dimensions. I am having the catheter removed tomarrow, continuing my use of terazosin and praying.
